The 39 Clues

The 39 Clues are a series of books written by different authors including Rick Riordan, Gordan Korman, Peter Lerangis and others.

I came across it when I was looking for other books by Rick Riordan, and I have to say, these are AWESOME books.

After their Grandmother, Grace, dies, Amy and Dan find out that they are part of the most powerful family in the world: the Cahills.

After their Grandmother's funeral, all the Cahills are invited to a meeting- where they are given a choice: to get one million dollars and walk away, or to find all 39 clues (the source of the Cahill's power) which are the ingredients to a serum which can form the most powerful person in the world.

As Amy and Dan think about what to do, they realize that their Grandmother had been preparing them for this all their life, giving them life skills, telling them the importance of different people, giving them tips on musicians, politicians, explorers and more. And thus they join the Clue Hunt.

The Holts

They are competing against who they think are more experience clue hunters than them: Ian and Natalie Kabra, The Holts, Alistair Oh, Irina Spasky and Jonah Wizard, all who are cruel and hate Amy and Dan. Furthermore, each of their relatives seem to know much more about the Cahill history than Amy and Dan.

They pursue clues that are hidden in Grace's library and the Franklin Institute and escape just in time before Grace's Mansion lights up on fire.

Dan and Amy discover that Benjamin Franklin had hidden a clue in Paris. Persuading their au pair

(babysitter), Nellie to chaperone the trip, the travel to Paris.

After arriving at Paris, the siblings travel far and search high and low, finally discovering a clue to a vial. Unfortunately, the Kabras steal the vial but Dan figures out the puzzle on the envelope they had received at the start of their journey and they find out that the first clue is.... Iron Solute.

Amy's research leads them to the probable location of the second clue: Vienna, Austria, the home of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart...

Thus the two siblings and Nellie continue through out the hunt, facing betrayals, murder, theft and other problems. 

Madrigal

Amy and Dan soon find out that there are 4 ranches of Cahills: the Janus (Artistic), the Ekaterina (inventors), Lucian (Smart) and Tomas (strong). They are warned of a murderous branch called the Madrigals and are shocked to find out later on that their parents were the Madrigals. Then as the truth weaves out, they find out that being a Madrigal was indeed an honor not a curse as the Madrigals' ultimate aim is to protect the 39 Clues and reunite the Cahill Family.

Long ago, the four siblings Luke, Jane, Thomas and Katherine were divided by a fight after their father, Gideon, died. Their mother, Olivia, delivered a fifth child called Madeleine after her 4 children left her. Madeleine swore on her Mother's deathbed that she would reunite the Cahills and restore peace in their family.
