The Kane Chronicles

The Kane Chronicles: by Rick Riordan (again)

    Sadie Kane
Anybody read any Egyptian Mythology much? Me neither. The Kane Chronicles are all about them! But no need to worry, as usual, Mr Riordan explains it all.

Sadie and Kane are siblings but Sadie's always been with her grandparents in London while Carter's always been traveling around the world with his dad, Julius. Two times every year, their Dad takes them both out somewhere to hang out.

This time, their Dad takes them out to the British Museum to "study" the Rosetta Stone. The deeper motives of Julius is to summon the Egyptian God Osiris (god of the underworld). But everything goes wrong when all the other four major gods are also summoned and Set, god of chaos, imprisons Julius (host of Osiris) in a coffin.

Sadie and Carter are then taken back to Brooklyn by their uncle Amos, Julius' brother. The siblings are left alone in Amos' mansion with a monkey, where they find signs that indicate that they are descendants of Egyptian Pharaohs and that they have magical powers.

The three magicians run from Brooklyn when they are attacked by different monsters. Sadie's cat Muffin turns out to be the Egyptian cat goddess Bast.

At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they find a girl called Zia Rashid, who takes them to the first Nome, the main Nome of the House Of Life, which has magicians trying to protect people and fight gods.

Zia Rashid
The next day, Zia starts training them with magic, teaching them how to fight and protect themselves as well as how to read hieroglyphs.
Thus the story continues as they set out to rescue their dad from Set. In then end, Carter bonds with the god, Horus and Sadie with the Goddess Iris and thus they use their combined strength to defeat Set.
But the story continues as Apophis, the serpent of Chaos itself, is rising...
